This idea is so inspiring. I have been interested in social documentaries, non-profit organizations and donating my time lately and I have discovered Help-Portrait. I want to get involved! Any takers to help me out? I am thinking about talking to the Photographic Center NW to see if they would want to be involved and I would volunteer my time to organize it all. Any advice on organizing, publicizing, etc? Also, if you get a chance, check out Jeremy Cowart's Haiti project - LOVE IT! Use your camera for good...not evil :)
Hey Tessa. Help-Portrait is pretty huge in Seattle...Jeremy Cowart even did a live one there this past December with CreativeLIVE. If you want to do one outside of the normal Dec. date, I'm sure you could find lots of people. You might check the links on their website for information or for details of people who have participated in the past. If you wait until December, I'm sure there will be a ton of events you could probably help out at and not have to organize one yourself...unless you just want to. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and Alexis did an event with one of her classes at MSU this past December, although they didn't call it Help-Portrait. I was going to go but that was the day we found out Eddie's brother-in-law died and also the day of the volunteer fair at our church so I didn't go to check it out.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, Tessa! Let me know if you find anything that might require extra help...I'm interested!! Or maybe we could brainstorm something together? :D
