Kate and Stephen Engagement January 2013 in Seattle

Old time friend (been friends for 7 years, wow!) and amazing self-proclaimed agent of mine, Kate Anvik is getting married in July this year! She found herself a more than wonderful man, Stephen, and I was lucky enough to be asked to be their photographer for their wedding this summer. We had a blast (even though it was chilly) wandering around Greenlake and downtown Seattle and I have faith that this couple is going to be super easy to photograph on their wedding day - they are so in love and SO photogenic. One of my favorite parts of photographing couples are the times where they are so in love with each other that nothing else in the world matters, and it is like I am not even standing there with a camera. Congratulations to the happy, wonderful couple!

Bekah and Ian (one more)

Bekah and Ian

Here are Bekah and Ian's engagement photos - they were a blast to do :) I did Bekah's senior portraits years ago and I remember laughing the whole time (it helped us both relax and have fun). Even though Bekah was somewhat of a gimp, she still looked beautiful. I'm excited to do their wedding next July!

Lindsey and Kyle...Schmaing

Here are some engagement photos of Kyle and Lindsey (soon to be Schmaing) that I took a few weeks ago and am finally getting to editing. They were really fun, but Kyle is so in love with Lindsey, he had a hard time prying his eyes off of Linds to look at the camera. Lindsey is basically a sister to me and has been my "model" before and is used to my wise cracks and photo quirks. We hiked up a trail at Paddy Canyon in Missoula and then went to the Bark Park in Missoula by the stream. YAY hopefully success.

Recent Activity

WOW. So in the past two weeks I have booked three weddings, two senior portrait sessions, possibly a Christmas card for MSU, done another engagement session and entered two shows. I got into the Juried Show at Sweet Pea (it is displayed in the Bozeman County Library if anyone wants to see my photo) and was accepted at the Exit Gallery at MSU and will be doing a show with a fellow photography major, Leslie McDaniel (I hope I spelt her name right...). She did a project on adoption at later ages and I entered my family project. Our reception will be Wednesday, September 23 from 5-7 pm. Everyone is welcome! I still need to come up with a project to pitch at 1:00 pm on August 31st for my senior...hmm...any ideas? More updates to come.

Leslie and Josh

A snippit of Leslie and Josh's engagement photo shoot! Cowboy hats in portraiture end up being more complicated than first expected, but overall there were some really good photos in this session. I always forget how it takes about fifteen minutes for me and the couple to loosen up and get comfortable...but after awhile we were climbing on tractors, hay bales, bushwacking to the puzzle trees and dealing with horses who wanted to eat everything (including Leslie's hair, dress and car). AND I hopefully am shooting their wedding July 17th next year! Wooo hooo! I have known Leslie since she was less than a year old and she is probably one of the craziest coolest people that I know.

National Folk Festival in Butte

Folk Festival in Butte! Really hot, 120,000 people, good food and really really good music. Mom, Patrick and I made the trek out on Saturday July 11 and spent the whole day there. Didn't have a whole lot of opportunity to photograph the performers which is a shame. We did get to visit our favorite bar, a piano jazz bar named Julian's, photograph to be posted later. Some day I will go in when the pianist is in his tux playing classic jazz tunes and get his portrait. That and the bartenders always have so much character and deserve a portrait as well. I wish I could afford to travel to Butte all the time and photograph, but alas, the life of an artist...
This weekend, I traveled to Kalispell to get Patrick's and my engagement photos taken for our save the dates and the newspaper. I also took a friend's engagement photos which I will post once I start editing. I started my second family book portraits by photographing my sister in Woodland Park....we'll see how those turn out. I also took my camera with us to Yellow Bay on Flathead Lake and it was the start of cherry season. The trees were bursting with fruit and so Katie and I climbed up into the trees at Penny's house on the lake and picked a flat of cherries. And I got some good photos...of course. I am considering making an in depth book on the cherry orchards on Flathead Lake (recipes, orchard history, etc)...we'll see. Off to bed, may inspiration come to me in my dreams. Ciao.
